Red Flags on Supplement Labels
Proprietary Blends
If a label lists a "proprietary blend" without individual ingredient amounts, the company is hiding something. Most reputable brands use full label transparency.
Artificial Colors
FD&C dyes (Red 40, Blue 1, Yellow 5) are petroleum-derived and unnecessary in supplements. Their presence often indicates a lower-quality product.
Titanium Dioxide
Banned in the EU since 2022 as a food additive. Used as a whitening agent in capsule coatings. Look for alternatives without it.
Cheap Mineral Forms
Magnesium oxide (4% absorption), zinc oxide, and calcium carbonate are the cheapest forms with poor bioavailability. Look for chelated forms instead.
